Alternative Format Textbooks

The DRC is able to provide free resources for alternative textbooks and convert textbooks to alternative formats for students registered with the DRC. Students who are wishing to obtain alternative format textbooks are encouraged to first check the resources provided below (such as HathiTrust and Bookshare). These resources often allow for direct access to textbooks in alternative formats. If students are unable to obtain their textbook(s) in an alternative format from the available resources, they must purchase textbook(s) in hard copy, PDF, or e-book format.

From there, students should submit the online Alternative Format Textbook Request below, provide proof of purchase (i.e. receipt showing you own a hardcopy of the textbook you are requesting to obtain in an accessible format), and specify which format is preferred.

The time frame to convert a textbook to an alternative format can vary based on the number of textbooks requested by each student as well as the number or pages and amount of content in each textbook.

Please note that it may take up to two weeks to fulfill your request as we receive permissions from the publisher.

If you have any questions about alternative format textbooks, please contact the DRC AT Lab at 352.392.8565 or drcATlab@ufsa.ufl.edu.
